Transvaginal Ultrasound

Transvaginal ultrasound uses an ultrasound probe called a transvaginal ultrasound probe.  This probe will insert into the vagina and allow a sonographer to obtain images of the cervix, uterus, ovaries and in many cases an early, growing baby.  Because the probe is able to be placed close to the uterus,  it is able to provide more detailed pictures.  Most women will feel fine during the ultrasound with little to no discomfort.
